The play Joyful Noise opens in the Brinton Black Box Theater at the Covey Center on Thursday, Dec. 4. This play, by Utah playwright Tim Slover, provides the perfect companion to the traditional holiday favorite, Handel's "Messiah." It examines how composer George Frederick Handel struggles to write a new masterpiece since his last "blasphemous" opera flopped, causing him to fall out of favor with King George II.
Joyful Noise is a play about redemption. It's a a smart, well-written play replete with interesting characters, humor, and grand emotion. Everyone in the play has in some way been "damaged" and through their interactionswith Handel's "Messiah," they find redemption. Back by popular demand at the Covey Center, this holiday favorite played last year to sold-out audiences.
Directed by David Hanson, this timeless piece is not to be missed. Make your holiday traditions begin with Joyful Noise, running December 4-20 at 7:30PM. Tickets are $14, $12.
