Hale Center Theater Orem presents "Willy Wonka Jr.", running May 19 - 23, 2014.

Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who takes care of both of his grandparents, dreams of a better life for his family. When the mysterious candy maker Willy Wonka announces a contest that will reward winners with a tour of his factory, Charlie believes this is his chance! Willy Wonka has hidden five golden tickets in candy bars throughout the world. As Charlie sees spoiled child after spoiled child get the first of the tickets, his faith begins to falter. But then the remarkable happens-Charlie gets a golden ticket! He and his Grandpa Joe embark on a wonderful adventure through Wonka's factory with Oompa-Loompas at every turn. Roald Dahl's classic tale of honesty, unselfishness, and humor, featuring the original Gene Wilder songs, comes alive on the HCTO stage.

About HCTO's Production of Willy Wonka Jr.: Based on the book by favorite author Roald Dahl, this classic story is adapted for young performers by Leslie Bricusse, Anthony Newley, and Timothy A. McDonald. This production features youth actors ranging from 10-16 years of age. These students have been rehearsing for the past month and a half, learning choreography, blocking, characterization, accents, and team building. The story centers on the mysterious world of Willy Wonka, the struggles and ultimate rewards of Charlie Bucket, and the lessons taught by the Oompa-Loompas.

Performance dates and times: May 19-23. Performances are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. each day. Prices: $6 for kids, $8 for adults
