The Hale Center Theater Orem is thrilled to produce the regional premiere of "Betty Blue Eyes," a rollicking new British musical about rekindling the spark in a waning marriage, letting some underdogs have their well-deserved day and introducing us to the lovable porker whose blue-eyed presence makes it all possible.
It's a witty, silly, laugh-out-loud farce from Emmy-winning American writers Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman with just enough British stiff upper lip to give it a dignified charm, and some unexpected poignancy to give it depth and heart.
With a clever libretto by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, Betty Blue Eyes is based on the Maggie Smith and Michael Palin film, A Private Function, screenplay by Alan Bennett. The score is by George Stiles (Honk! and The Three Musketeers) and Anthony Drewe (Honk!), whose other works include the new material in the stage version of Mary Poppins.
HCTO producers stumbled across "Betty Blue Eyes" in 2015 and soon began the search for who owned it and who could license a Hale Center Theater Orem production. The search ended with Music Theater International who then began negotiations with "Betty Blue Eyes" West End producer, Cameron Mackintosh. Cameron Macintosh gave his approval and allowed HCTO the rights to produce the 2nd production of "Betty Blue Eyes" in the US.
Tickets range in price from $22 - $24 each ($6 less for children). To order tickets visit the Hale Center Theater Orem Box Office, call801-226-8600 or visit haletheater.org.
