Desert Star Theatre, the family playhouse that's been making audiences laugh for over two decades, is pleased to announce its 2010 season. The line-up includes parodies of two bestselling book series that have gone on to become blockbuster movies, as well as the return of Utah's longest running show. Season tickets go on sale June 9.

Desert Star Theatre has made its reputation by presenting hilarious musical parodies. For its 22nd season, Desert Star has set it's sights on Twilight, the wildly-popular series of vampire novels, as well as Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and in a blending of old and new TV shows, Beverly Hillbillies 90210. My Big Fat Utah Wedding, which holds the record as Utah's longest running show, will be making a return. And rounding out the season is Desert Star's Christmas Vacation. The theatre is adding an additional show to its 2010 season line-up, giving guests six laughter-filled shows instead of five.

Here is the jolly 2010 season line-up:

Twi-Lite: I was a Teenage Vampire (January 7 - March 13) High school geek Seth has a crush on cheerleader Chelsea Chambers, but she doesn't know he exists. He discovers Chelsea is head-over-heels for a popular fictional vampire. So Seth pretends he's a vampire to attract Chelsea. Soon all the girls at school have a crush on him. But what will he do when a real vampire shows up, challenging Seth to a showdown?

Pirates of the Car-rib-eee-an: Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Fun (March 18 - May 15) The seas of the Caribbean are infested with a scourge of pirates and the pompous Captain Stubbing has sworn to stamp them out. But things don't go as planned when he encounters Captain Jack Spratt and the villainous Captain Barmitzvah. This is a swashbuckling show filled with excitement, romance, and high seas laughs.

Beverly Hillbillies 90210: You Might be a Redneck if... (May 20 - July 10) Where does a hick go when he strikes it rich? Why, Beverly Hills of course. But greedy Will E. Rottenfeller is not happy with his new neighbors and he wants them out. However, the love struck teens are not ready to part so they strike up a plan! In the end Grandpa Rottenfeller shows everyone they are simply hillbillies at heart!

My Big Fat Utah Wedding (July 15 - September 18) Don't miss Utah's longest running show in this limited return to Desert Star! Gretchen is in trouble... she is 26 and not married! She's instantly smitten with Dax when he comes into the family diner. After a few dates they decide to tie the knot! With wedding planners running amok, budget problems and scheming friends, will it be happily ever after?

Welcome Back Potter: Harry & Hermione's High School Reunion (September 23 - November 13) It's been 10 years since Harry and his friends graduated from Dogwarts Academy. They've all gone their separate ways, and no one has heard from Harry. They're all hoping he'll return for their class reunion. Also awaiting his return is an old foe determined to destroy Harry and make himself the ruler of the wizarding world. Sparks of magic and comedy combine in this delightful parody.

Desert Star's Christmas Vacation: The Bi-Polar Express (November 18 - January 1, 2011) The Stubbs family will be moving at the end of the year, and father Sherman wants their last Christmas in their old home to be their best one ever. But nothing is going right, and his daughter, Audrey, is worrying there might not be a Santa Claus. Sherman and Audrey end up with nutty Aunt Darlene on a train headed for the North Pole. Don't miss this crazy holiday adventure.

Desert Star audiences can enjoy gourmet pizza, fresh wraps, scrumptious desserts, and other finger foods while they watch the show. Food is available from an á la carte menu and is served right at your table.

Desert Star is changing its weekend show times in 2010. Show times will now be Fridays at 6 and 8:30pm and Saturdays at 11:30am, 2:30, 6 and 8:30pm. Monday thru Thursday will continue to be at 7pm. This change is in being made in response to guest feedback.
