Clyde's, written by the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, is a powerful dramedy that takes a comedic yet poignant look at redemption and second chances.
Set in a struggling truck stop sandwich shop named Clyde's, the play centers around a formerly incarcerated kitchen staff. Referred to as "the ex-felons" by the new owner, these individuals are given the opportunity to work their way back into society by preparing sandwiches under the harsh supervision of the ruthless Aunt Lydia, played by Uzo Aduba in the original Broadway production.
As the team strives to create the perfect sandwich, a sense of camaraderie and purpose starts to develop among them. They find solace in this shared goal, a stark contrast to the emptiness and hardship they faced on the outside. However, their path to redemption is constantly challenged by Aunt Lydia's cruelty and the reminders of their past that continue to haunt them.
