Ebeneezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and Tiny Tim are coming to City Theatre in this year’s holday Panto! See them as never before as they sing the songs of the Spandex and 1980’s Hair Bands in “A Christmas Carol, The Rock & Roll Panto!”

Since 2007, City Theatre has been producing their annual British-style Panto but with a distinctly Sacramento twist. With its irreverant take on popular fairy tales, legend and now books (!), high energy, popular music, and audience participation makes it fun for the whole family.

Kathleen Poe

Scrooge
Kathleen is a Music professor at Sacramento City College but can’t stop doing theater. Recent roles include Decius Brutus in JULIUS CAESAR (Sacramento Shakespeare Festival), Leonato in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Big Idea Theater), Penelope in THE PENELOPIAD (Women’s Theater Collective), Father in EURYDICE (City Theater), and portraying a singing, dancing fish in MOBY DICK, the British Panto (Splinter Group). Some previous favorite roles include Macduff in last summer’s production of MACBETH (Sacramento Shakespeare Festival), The Narrator in WOLVES (Big Idea Theater), Judy Boone in THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHTTIME (City Theater), and Polonius in HAMLET (both at CSUS and Sac Shakes). Kathleen is a proud original company member of Wildflower Women’s Ensemble, an all-female Shakespeare ensemble.


Ghost of Christmas Past (Fan)

Maddy Flint
Maddy Flint is a second year student at Sacramento City College (SCC) and she’s majoring in Theatre Arts. She has been doing theater since she was a kid, and she loves musicals! This is her third Sac City Theatre production, and she is so excited to be apart of this show! Maddy has been in multiple different theatrical productions including “Matilda” with Young Actors Stage, “Sweeney Todd” with the Actors Stage, and “Emilia” with Sac City Theatre. In her free time, she loves to sing, go on hikes, and play with her cat and dog!


Ghost of Christmas Present (Joy)

Mark Silver
Mark Silver began acting in 1981 at Roger Rocka's Good Company Players in Fresno, and has never stopped. Favorite roles include Matt in THE FANTASTICKS, Marcellus in THE MUSIC MAN, Pirelli in SWEENEY TODD, The Baker in INTO THE WOODS, Greta in BENT, Alf in PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, The Narrator in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, Demetrius in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Sister Mary Huber in NUNSENSE A-MEN, Bruce in THE NORMAL HEART and Uncle Ernie in THE WHO'S TOMMY among many others. Mark has been the recipient of two Oregon Theatrical Award Society (OTAS) awards, for Rooster in ANNIE (Best Support Actor - Musical) and Guiseppe in THE MOST HAPPY FELLA (Best Featured Actor - Musical).


Ghost of Christmas Future

Mia Matista
Mia is thrilled to be a part of A Christmas Carol this year as The Ghost of Christmas Future. She’s a graduate from City College & Sacramento State with a degree in Theatre Arts, and works full time for Sacramento City College in the Business Services office. Mia is considered a “Panto veteran,” having participated in 7+ Pantos so far and generally spends a lot of time playing the “buttons” character. She kicked off her panto journey as Panto Horse/Dragon in Beowulf British Panto in 2018, garnering her first “buttons” role as Jo in Little Women British Panto in 2019. She’s happy to be a part of a wonderful holiday tradition here in Sacramento, and hopes to be in many more!


Marley/Laundress

Sarah Palmero
Sarah most recently appeared on this stage as Emilia 3 in EMILIA and as Odysseus in THE PENELOPIAD with Women’s Theatre Collective. She is a regular performer with Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, last seen as Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar and Duncan in Macbeth. When she’s not on stage, she’s probably making something with her hands.


Bob Cratchit, Ignorance

Ted Muhlhauser
Ted Muhlhauser is a legislative and legal office manager for the State of California who has bounced around California local theatre for five decades. He is ecstatic to be in his first full length holiday musical. Ted’s other City Theatre stage credits include MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY (futuristic HOMER SIMPSON) and two one act play festivals: THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED (TRIA CORPUS, VIRGIL) and HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS: WELCOME BACK (GHOSTLIGHT 2, SHAKESPEARE and FROM THE CELLS OF THE PLAGUE MONKS, BUD). Some of Ted’s other stage romps include STRATO in JULIUS CAESAR 1922 (Sacramento Shakespeare Festival); FROGGY LESUEUR in THE FOREIGNER; and, FRED in Edward Albee’s THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE.


Mrs. *Chuck* Cratchit

Holly Nicola
Only becoming involved with theater in 2014, after retirement, Holly loves returning to City Theatre at Sacramento City College. Holly has been in City Theatre productions only. She enjoys minor roles and being part of the ensemble. A Christmas Carol is Holly’s 14th show with CIty Theatre. Other productions in which she was cast include: Cannery Row, The Great Gatsby, The Music Man, Carrie - the Musical, Miracle on 34th Street, The Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, The Three Muskateers, The Count of Monte Cristo and three previous British pantos: Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and Mother Goose. Her involvement has greatly increased her appreciation of theater, observing all the hard work that goes on on the stage and also behind the scenes. Holly has great affection and appreciation for her City Theatre family. She is finding joy in being part of A Christmas Carol, the Rock and Roll Panto!


Martha Cratchit/Darlene

Isabella Castro
Isabella is in her first year and first play at Sacramento City College. Although she’s majoring in Biology, she loves theater and wants to continue participating in it for as long as she can. Previously, she’s been apart of productions such as LION KING and ALICE IN WONDERLAND with Young Actors Stage. Throughout high school, she was also in the VAPA program. Isabella is very excited to be apart of this production and plans to do more!


Peter Cratchit

Jacob DeHart
After taking a break from acting to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Jacob DeHart is very excited to be returning to the stage. He had previously acted all four years at Rosemont High School, performing in shows like "Music Man" and "The Outsiders". In his free time, he enjoys drawing, writing, and video editing.


Tiny Tim/Subscription Dude

Andrew DeCamp
Andy is in his second year at Sacramento City College and has been doing theater since fourth grade. He went through the whole VAPA program in high school and has been in multiple shows there, including Cinderella as Sebastian, and Ranked as an ASB Student. This is his first show with City Theater and is very excited to be a part of the cast. When he is not on stage, in school, or working, he enjoys cooking and practicing voice acting.


Fezziwig/Undertaker

Nicholas Friedrich
Nicholas was last seen as one of the witches in Shakespeare’s Macbeth and has previously performed as Gregory in Romeo and Juliet and Oliver in Another As You Like It Reunion for the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival. He is also an avid performer of choral music and has recently performed in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Sacramento Choral Society. Nicholas credits his older sister as his inspiration for pursuing community theater and choir, as she has performed in several plays/musicals across the greater Sacramento area and always encourages him to audition.


Mrs. Fezziwig

Sinead Kennedy
This is Sinead’s billionth panto that she has been part of and 3rd one performing in. Her previous roles were in the loveable Cobweb A Midsummer Night's Dream, with Resurrection Theatre. She was also in Snow White, the 7 Dudes the Panto (baloney), and Mother Goose the Panto(Mayor Angelina Steinbear) over at City Theatre. She was also in City Theatre’s one-act festival called “I Think This Place Has Changed” as Valor’s Human in Dog and Bark. In Resurrection’s Theatre one-act festival, she played Trish In Horse Girls. Not only is she a performer on stage, she also teaches with On Stage over at Leonardo da Vinci K-8 school, and she works with the California Department of Veterans Affairs. She likes to thank everyone involved for being so amazing and her friends and loved ones for their support and love. So please enjoy the show


Young Scrooge

Shannon Poe
Shannon is a recent Sac State graduate who was last seen on this stage as the title character in Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice. Since they were 15, they've had the opportunity to perform at Sac City in shows like The Music Man, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and She Kills Monsters. They also recently performed in Hamlet at Sac State. Shannon loves coming back to her old school and is excited to again in the future!


Belle

Riley J Burke
Riley is so excited to be back again for a production with City Theatre and even more excited to be doing her first ever panto! At City Theatre, Riley has recently been seen in EMILIA/Howard/Eve and EURYDICE/Orpheus, as well as two Shakespeare Festivals in JULIUS CAESAR/Claudius and MACBETH/Murderer/Seyton. RJ has also been involved in productions at the Folsom Lake College campus appearing in two Falcon’s Eye Theatre productions in the last year; CABARET/Ensemble and ANTIGONE/Ismene. They have also been involved with FreeFall Stage in HELP ME/Stella and AN HONEST APOLOGY/Ella. RJ is originally from the Greater Bay Area and some early credits include: ALMOST MAINE/Sandrine, MIA/Immaculate, ANGEL STREET/Nancy, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, and PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE/Suzanne. RJ plans to study musical theatre well and continue exploring other theatre avenues such as stage management, directing and fight choreography.


Fred/Want

Deandre Fritz
Deandre is in his second year at Sacramento City College entering his 8th production on campus with credits including, THE FISHERMAN AND HIS WIFE, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, MACBETH, EURYDICE, and MOTHER GOOSE: A BRITISH PANTO. Deandre is also heavily involved in the theater community outside of school with credits including, ALICE BY HEART, SPRING AWAKENING, WELGA, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, ALMOST MAINE, and PAJAMA GAME. He is also involved backstage at Broadway Sacramento’s Music Circus. For the future to further pursue into his acting career Deandre plans on transferring to a university to continue majoring in acting and musical theater to achieve a BA or BFA. He also strives for being involved in both New York Broadway and Los Angeles film productions.


Charwoman/Cellist/Subscription Dude

Tem Huerta
Tem is a sophomore at Sacramento City College. This is Tem’s seventh show on the SCC stage. Tem has been in LOCAL PLAYWRIGHT'S FESTIVAL, EURYDICE, MOTHER GOOSE (Tamilda), SWEAT (Oscar), EMILIA (Lady Katherine) at Sac City and JULIUS CAESAR (Lucius) with Sacramento Shakespeare Festival.


Turkey Boy

Robin Sanchez
Robin first heard about the joy of British Pantomime while performing in Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play and Home for the Holidays at SCC. She was hooked after acting in her first Panto, which may be the only type of musical a director would cast her in! She’s thrilled to be part of the fun and can’t wait to share the laughs with you all.


Marcus Wilson

Subscription Dude
Marcus is a seventh semester student at Sac City College, currently working on building transfer credits while also working on a Mechanical Engineering degree. This is his fifth show at SCC, seen previously as Jason in SWEAT, Panto Horse in MOTHER GOOSE: A BRITISH PANTO, a Stone in EURYDICE, and Kastril in THE ALCHEMIST. He has also dabbled in some directing work, directing FRACTURED FAIRY TALES for Dream Theater/Sac County. When not working on the stage, he continues acting for ESCAPE SACRAMENTO as a game operator. He hopes to continue doing shows and hopefully begin doing voice acting work.
