The Mendocino Theatre Company continues the celebration of its 40th anniversary with a revival of Edward Albee's masterpiece, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, a classic piece of theatre that was revised by the playwright in 2005.

At the helm is director Willo Hausman, who grew up in the film business and has a BFA in acting from NYU. Though she works primarily in film, she has a passion for live theatre and is very excited to be able to direct this seminal work in the beautiful town of Mendocino, "the perfect place to dive into this classic piece."

Edward Albee's classic American portrait of a tempest-tossed marriage is, according to Ms. Hausman, "both emotionally shocking and poetically beautiful". A love story at heart, the play allows the audience to experience the full gamut of emotional expression and gives each member of the audience his or her own edge-of-the-seat ride. "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is about breaking the old patterns that hold us back", says Ms. Hausman, "and Albee's innately positive message is presented in a poetic, clever, enthralling package...I see this play as a wonderfully cathartic experience..."

The ensemble cast features MTC veterans Mark Friedrich as George and Pamela W. Allen as Martha. Joining them are LA-based professional actors Emily Batterson (Honey), and Drew Simon (Nick), who each makes their Mendocino Theatre Company debut in this challenging piece. Set designer Diane Larson and lighting designer Steve Greenwood have teamed up again to create a fabulously evocative set on which these skilled actors will bring Albee's play to life.
