Sierra Stages and Miners Foundry Cultural Center announce the final installment of this year's "Theater by the Book" informal play reading series: THE FOX by Allan Miller, based on the short novel by D.H. Lawrence. The reading, directed by Trish Adair, takes place on Wednesday November 30 at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City at 7:30 PM. Admission is FREE, with a suggested donation of $10 to cover costs. The doors open at 7 PM. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
In THE FOX, two women are struggling to run an isolated farm after World War I. Enter a young soldier who is an engaging and capable fellow, but ultimately dominates life on The Farm. Is it ever possible for men and women to be equals as well as lovers? In his short novel of the same name, D.H. Lawrence wrestled with this very question. With this most primordial of his works, Lawrence digs deep into a searing triangle of two women and a man. True to Lawrence and his short novel, this stage adaptation by Allan Miller is an intense examination of the relationship among these three individuals. Please note: THE FOX contains mature themes.
The "Theater by the Book" series is presented by Sierra Stages and the Miners Foundry Cultural Center for the community. All of the readings are FREE (with a suggested donation of $10 to cover costs).
Sierra Stages' final production of its fifth season - the intimate musical CLOSER THAN EVER -- plays through November 24 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley.
