Roaring '20s to Come Alive in CYT's THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

The Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is proud to present THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, the tap dancing high energy musical play. The winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE was 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway. The fun and frivolity of the Roaring 20s will come alive with lots of dancing, charming songs and jazz music that all ages will enjoy.

Tickets are $6.00 for special school day shows. All other shows are $12.00 online at and $14.00 at the door. THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, and tells the story of a small town Kansas girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City in 1922 to find a new life for herself. Her grand plan is to find a job as a secretary and marry a rich man. She sets her sights on her boss, Trevor Graydon, but instead finds herself falling for the flapper lifestyle and the carefree Jimmy Smith, an unsuccessful paper clip salesman who hasn't got a dime to his name. She also must rescue her new friend, Dorothy Brown from the clutches of their landlady, Mrs. Meers , a villainess everyone loves to hate, and her assistants Ching Ho and Bun Foo whom she forces to carry out her diabolical schemes.This high-spirited musical romp adds up to a zany adventure, complete with romance, comedy and up beat entertainment.

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is a nonprofit organization which offers after-school theater arts classes for children 4-18. CYT's first Sacramento regional affiliate has been established within the Roseville community. Classes offered include dance, voice, drama comedy improv, stage make up, sketch writing, back stage and many more. Children participating in the classes have the opportunity to audition for a musical production.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE runs from February 12th through February 20th with two special school day performances Friday, February 12th 10:00am and Friday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $6.00. School day shows include school classroom groups, home school groups, children's organizations (Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts etc.) seniors and senior care groups. Other performances include: Friday, Feb 12th 7:00 p.m. , Saturday, Feb 13th 3:00p.m., Friday, Feb 19th 7:00pm, and Saturday, Feb 20th at 3:00pm. As part of CYT's Gives Back Program, during its show performances,

CYT is collaborating with the nonprofit organization Courage Worldwide. Courage Worldwide's mission is to rescue and restore lives of child victims of sex trafficking. CYT will be collecting cash donations or donations of gift cards $25.00 or less for clothing/ toiletries (Old Navy, Target, Walmart etc.) Please bring your donation to the lobby area.
