The national tour of the Broadway musical CHICAGO is coming to Folsom, but not until August. On Wednesday afternoon the Harris Center received notice from the show's tour management of the need to reschedule the Folsom engagement's seven performances originally planned for March 3-6. By Friday, theatres on the west coast had received confirmation of new performance dates in August and the Harris Center began contacting its ticket holders about the change.

The Harris Center dates for the rescheduled tour are August 18-21, 2016. Patrons with tickets for the original March dates are automatically being transferred to like seats on the same weekday and time as before. If they can't attend on the new date, they have the option for a refund or to shift to a performance on another date and time (subject to availability). Ticket buyers should check their e-mail for more details, or contact the Harris Center ticket office. Customer service representatives from the Harris Center ticket office are also reaching out by phone to patrons without an e-mail address and to those whom the Center does not hear back from electronically.

According to Dave Pier, Executive Director of the Harris Center, "CHICAGO has been our most popular show to date, with nearly 5000 tickets sold and several of the performances already approaching sell out. The change came as a surprise, but we're glad that we were able to arrange for new dates to bring this show to Folsom."

Long identified with the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, CHICAGO has been honored with 6 Tony Awards®, 2 Olivier Awards®, a Grammy® and thousands of standing ovations from around the world. Pier noted, "It's the longest-running American musical in Broadway history and we're looking forward to having it here in Folsom. When it arrives, it will be an opportunity to see it as never before - up close, in the intimate Harris Center."

In the meantime, patrons as well as the general public are being offered a chance to see free screenings of the motion picture version of CHICAGO at the original performance times on March 3-6 as part of the Harris Center's 5th Anniversary Celebration. "We know people had plans to have a great time at the theater, so we thought this might be a fun way for folks to still get out, enjoy a sense of community, and celebrate the genius of the show's creators Bob Fosse and Frank Ebb. It will be a preview for seeing their show performed live." Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger, Richard Gere and Queen Latifah, the motion picture version of CHICAGO received six Academy Awards in 2003 and was the first musical to win Best Picture since Oliver! in 1968. Admission to the screenings is free for the public, but tickets are required and subject to availability. Tickets are available online at www.HarrisCenter.net or through the ticket office at(916) 608-6888.

In addition to the free screenings of CHICAGO, the Center's originally scheduled "Razzle Dazzle" 5th Anniversary Reception is taking place as planned on Thursday, March 3, 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The reception is a 1920s themed party with food provided by ten local restaurants, wine and beer provided by eight El Dorado County wineries and two local microbreweries, and a silent auction with upwards of 100 donated gift packages. Entertainment will include jazz pianist Bob Ringwald and saxophonist Jerry Fairlie, as well as the Valley Ukulele Society and Footloose Tap Dancers. Tickets are $40 per person, which includes admission to the free CHICAGO film screening after the reception. Major sponsors of the event include Kikkoman, Kaiser Permanente, and Arner & Horn Certified Public Accountants. Net proceeds from the reception and silent auction will benefit the Harris Center.
