B Street Theatre, Sacramento's Resident New Works Theatre, is excited to present an evening of original sketch comedy and improv to benefit Megan O'Neil, a B Street actor recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The Nitty Gritty Titty Committee will perform one show only on Sunday, August 30 at 7pm at B Street Theatre.
Megan O'Neil completed her acting internship in 2008 at B Street Theatre, where she met her husband, actor Peter Story. At the B Street Theatre she performed in Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!, Rumpelstiltskin and Vrooommm!!!. She currently lives in Los Angeles where she has appeared in film, television and at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. In April of this year Megan was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30.
"This show is a fundraising event to help with Megan's medical bills and expenses during recovery," said Brittni Barger, performer and producer of the event. "As a B Street family member, we know it is not only a responsibility but a privilege to take care of our own." B Street Theatre has donated the venue and production support, while the cast, crew and director take no pay, ensuring that 100% of the ticket sales and all donations will go directly to Megan.
The night will include all new sketches written by the cast as well as improv games in the same vein as their previous B Street: Live! shows. The Nitty Gritty Titty Committee is comprised of B Street Acting Company members: Stephanie Altholz, whose razor sharp wit and extensive improvisational training have made her somewhat of a legend for Sacramento audiences in search of high-tier improv and sketch comedy; Brittni Barger, best known for her glo-stick colored Anime sketches and turns on the B Street Family Series and alternative B3 stage; Amy Kelly, B Street's go-to character actress, whose multi-talented larger-than-life antics have won the hearts of B Street patrons since her induction into the Acting Company; and Tara Sissom, a Company Member who also has extensive training in improv and sketch comedy, whose talents have taken her all the way to performing in nationally-acclaimed productions of The Iceman Cometh with Nathan Lane and Brian Dennehy. Shannon Mahoney directs and provides choreography.
The Nitty Gritty Titty Committee will perform Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the B Street Theatre. Tickets are priced at $10 with the option to make additional donations at the show. Tickets are available by phone from B Street Theatre Box Office at 916-443-5300 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Sunday. B Street Theatre is located at 2711 B Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.
