Actor and comedian Martin Short, famed for his zany characters on "Saturday Night Live" and before that on Canada's "SCTV Comedy Network," will perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts at 8 pm on Saturday, November 23.
Tickets range in price from $49 to $99, and can be purchased online at
www.galloarts.org, by calling
(209) 338-2100, or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto.
Among Short's memorable characters are the nerdy Ed Grimley, nervous lawyer Nathan Thurm and "legendary songwriter" Irving Cohen. Short also created the ditzy cable access television talk show host, Jiminy Glick, for Comedy Central's "Primetime Glick." His show at the Gallo Center will include an appearance by Glick interviewing Modesto native
Robert Ulrich, the Emmy-winning casting director for "Glee" and other television programs.
Short's popularity on television led him to such feature films as "Three Amigos," "Inner Space," "Three Fugitives," and
Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks." One of his most memorable roles was in the remake of "Father of the Bride," as Franck the wedding planner. Short's acting accomplishments have earned him an Emmy, a Tony and an Outer Critics Circle Award.
