California Musical Theatre's Les Miz Gala takes place on Saturday, May 4, starting at 6:00 p.m., at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J Street in Sacramento. Memorial Auditorium will be elegantly decorated for the evening with a French theme, celebrating the hit Broadway show LES MISERABLES, opening at Community Center Theater on May 29.
The event will benefit California Musical Theatre, the nonprofit organization that brings top quality theatrical experiences to Broadway Sacramento and Music Circus, and provides valuable theatre education programs for the Sacramento region through the CMT Academy.
Les Miz Gala Honorary Chair is Sandy Smoley. Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Dennis Mangers.
The Black Tie Optional Les Miz Gala begins with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. in "Thénardier's Tavern" (named after a pub scene in LES MISERABLES), followed by a Parisian gourmet dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Live entertainment features Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, who has performed in four Music Circus seasons, and has starred in numerous Broadway and touring Broadway productions. Her Broadway credits include LES MISERABLES, in which she has played the roles of both Cosette and Fantine, and Miss Saigon.
The gala event also features a special performance by members of the Music Circus Junior Company, one of the educational programs offered through the CMT Academy. The popular band Hip Service will close the evening with a rousing dance set.
There will also be a live auction with David Sobon Auctions. Auction items include:
- Cooking class, gourmet French dinner and elegant overnight accommodations for six at the award-winning Ramekins Culinary School, Events & Inn in Sonoma.
- Parisian Night for eight including a private dinner party at a downtown Sacramento restaurant, plus tickets to LES MISERABLES at Community Center Theater with a personal backstage tour and chance to meet cast members.Videos
