The Falcon's Eye closes its tenth season with Cyrano. The most legendary nose in literature gets a makeover from playwrights Michael Hollinger and Aaron Posner, in this lively American adaptation of the 1897 French classic by Edmond Rostand. Will Roxane fall for Christian's dashing looks or Cyrano's daring poetry? Find out in this timeless tale-full of wordplay and swordplay-that's been an inspiration to writers and lovers for centuries.

Michael Hollinger, one of Philadelphia's most successful playwrights, has adapted the original Cyrano de Bergerac, along with director Aaron Posner, for modern audiences. It premiered in 2011 at the Folger Theatre in Washington, DC, and was honored with seven Helen Hayes Award nominations, including Outstanding Resident Play, Outstanding New Play, and Outstanding Direction of a Play.

Aaron Posner is a nationally recognized playwright and director. He is the Co-Founder, former Artistic Director, and current resident director of Philadelphia's Arden Theatre, where he has directed more than 40 productions over the last 18 years. Posner's initial impulse suggested a conscious theatricality that differs from the original play. It suggests that the language should be very immediate, rhythmic, and lively, and that its poeticism should feel more like slam poetry, with more interplay of sounds within and between lines than end rhymes, than the predictability of the 17th-century verse plays Rostand was emulating.

The production of Cyrano will take place in the City Studio Theatre (Stage Two) at the Harris Center
