The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee- The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for actors from the community to audition for its spring production of William Finn and Rebecca Sheinkin's Tony Award-winning musical comedy, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, directed by David Harris with dance choreography by Debi Davis-Worth and musical direction by Philip Angove.

About the play:
This hilarious hit musical tale of overachievers' angst chronicles the experiences of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's creative team has created a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

About the auditions:
Audition will be held Monday, February 8 at 7pm on a first-come, first-served basis. Callbacks will be held February 9 and 10 and possibly other dates, at 7pm by invitation only following the February 8 general auditions.

Auditions will take place on the campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway in Folsom. A daily parking pass can be purchased for $1. For a map with directions to the event, please go to www.flc.losrios.edu, click first on "Campus Maps" and then "Folsom Lake College." Come to the Physical Education building room 203, the Dance Studio, to sign in for auditions. Use the Scholar Way entrance to campus. The PE building is just to your right.

Auditioners must prepare no more than 60 seconds of a song appropriate to the style of the show that demonstrates your vocal range. You may sing a song from the show if you want. Bring sheet music in the key you will be singing in. An accompanist will be provided. You may also choose to use recorded accompaniment on a compact disc only or sing a capella. Auditioners are also asked to prepare a comic monologue that is no longer than 90 seconds. Please memorize this monologue if possible, although memorization is not required. You might also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text. There will also be a dance and movement audition. You will be taught a short combination and will perform the movement in groups. Please wear appropriate clothing.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee rehearses February 22 - April 29 weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Performances are April 30 through May 16. Actors of any race, disability, or age over 18 are needed.
