HOW TO USE A KNIFE by Will Snider

August 31 - October 2, 2016

National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere

In the chaotic hustle and bustle of a Wall Street restaurant kitchen, Chef George is trying to stay sober. In between yelling at a pair of trash-talking line cooks and a pot-smoking busboy, he befriends Steve, an East African immigrant who seems to be a humble yet dignified dishwasher. Set during busy dinner shifts and filled with a cast of unforgettable New York characters, How To Use A Knife bursts with grinding suspense, energy, and surprise.

AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY by Tracy Letts

October 19 - November 20, 2016

Pulitzer Prize & Tony Award Winner

A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you've got a play that unflinchingly - and uproariously - exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.

BETRAYAL by Harold Pinter

January 25 - February 26, 2017

Laurence Olivier Award Winner

Emma and Jerry, former lovers, meet at a cafe in the present. Emma's marriage to Jerry's best friend Robert is falling apart, and she seeks out Jerry's consolation. From there, the play travels backwards through time - from the end of Emma and Jerry's affair to its beginning - and unearths the little lies and oblique remarks that reveal more than direct statements or overt actions ever could.

GUARDS AT THE TAJ by Rajiv Joseph

March 15 - April 16, 2017

Sacramento Premiere

In 1648 India, two Imperial Guards watch from their post as the sun rises for the first time on the newly completed Taj Mahal - an event that shakes their respective worlds. When they are ordered to perform an unthinkable task, the aftermath forces them to question the concepts of friendship, beauty, and duty, and changes them forever.

STUPID F*CKING BIRD by Aaron Posner

May 3 - June 4, 2017

Sacramento Premiere

Charles MacArthur Award Winner

An aspiring young director rages against the art created by his mother's generation. A nubile young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist. And everyone discovers just how disappointing love, art, and growing up can be. In this irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Chekhov's The Seagull, Aaron Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, in search of the true meaning of it all.

BAD JEWS by Joshua Harmon

June 21 - July 23, 2017

Sacramento Premiere

Lucille Lortel & Outer Critics Circle Awards Nominee

The night after their grandfather's funeral, three cousins engage in a verbal battle royale over a family heirloom. In one corner is the unstoppable and self-assured force of "Super Jew" Daphna, and in the other, the immovable and entitled object of her secular cousin Liam. And in the middle is Liam's brother Jonah, trying to stay out of the fray.
