Capital Stage presents a special two-show engagement of 3: BLACK GIRL BLUES by local playwright/director/actor and frequent Capital Stage collaborator Anthony D'Juan. Telling the story of three close friends who grew up together and now at thirty years old are confronted with facing their demons, 3: BLACK GIRL BLUES captures the breakdown, growth and resurgence of female esteem in a dynamic, funny, and brilliantly moving tour de force performance by Sacramento native Danielle Moné Truitt. 3: BLACK GIRL BLUES will perform August 1, 2015 at 8pm and August 2, 2015 at 2pm.

THE PRODUCTION
The performances of 3: BLACK GIRL BLUES will be Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2015. Showtimes will be Saturday at 8:00 PM and Sunday at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $20 for Capital Stage subscribers and $23-$25 for the general public, and can be purchased at the Capital Stage Box Office: 916-995-5464, capstage.org, 2215 J Street.

THE PLAY

3: BLACK GIRL BLUES is a tale of three close friends - Keisha, Jill and Stephanie - who grew up together and now at thirty years old are confronted with facing their demons. Keisha, an urban socialite, has her life crushed when she realizes her long term boyfriend has had a child with another woman. Jill, a housewife in denial, admits to her husbands betrayal. Stephanie, an executive in the upper echelon world, has to face the core of her mental illness. 3: BLACK GIRL BLUES meditates on the ways we choose to present ourselves and the forces that cause us to come clean.

THE PERFORMER

Danielle Moné Truitt is an Actor, Singer, Dancer, who hails from Sacramento where she started her professional acting career in Regional Theatres such as B Street Theatre, Sacramento Theatre Company and Music Circus. Shortly after her move to Los Angeles, Danielle made history when she joined the cast of the Academy Award Nominated Animation "The Princess and The Frog". Danielle performed the body movements and facial expressions for Princess Tiana, ultimately creating her persona and essence. She was also the voice of Georgia for the film and Nintendo Wii Game. Danielle was directed by the legendary Roger Guenvuer Smith in the West Coast premier of THE MOUNTAINTOP at San Diego Rep. She has starred in various plays and will join the cast of HAIR at California Music Circus this Summer. Some of Danielle's Film and TV credits include STOLEN MOMENTS, ETXR (Fox Digital), SUPER FUN NIGHT (ABC) and MULANEY (FOX). In addition to all of this 3: BLACK GIRL BLUES, will make its New York city debut this September at the United Solo Festival. 3 BLACK GIRL BLUES has also been adapted into a feature film entitled "Unsound", which Truitt will perform in and produce.

THE PLAYWRIGHT
Anthony D'Juan has been an active writer, director, producer, actor and teacher since 1996, with over 100 stage productions to his credit. Directing credits: SUBURBIA, OTHELLO, FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS, THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES, THE DISTANCE FROM HERE, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (THE MUSICAL), TOP DOG/UNDERDOG, ENDGAME ("Best Drama", 2003), BASH: LATTER-DAY PLAYS, OUR TOWN, THE SEA GULL, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and "3". In 2010 Anthony released two self published novels - DECONSTRUCTED and ARRANGED FAILURE - and formed Factotum FilmWorks. He directed the film "Untitled" (co-written with Celia Crain), which is available online, starring Nanci Zoppi. For CapStage he has been involved in several Playwrights' Revolutions, directed Katori Hall's THE MOUNTAINTOP, and acted in SUPERIOR DONUTS and EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD.
