Capital Public Radio is pleased to present the artwork of Steve Barbaria and Dave Webb. The show will be on view at 7055 Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento from August 20 through December 5, 2014, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Show, entitled, "You Are Here," combines Steve Barbaria's mixed media painting and sculpture with Dave Webb's iPhone photography.
"You Are Here is a study of place, transformed by the maps we use and the mobile phones we are never without," says Steve and Dave.
Steve Barbaria reinterprets and explores the fundamental ideas we get from maps. Direction, location, place, neighbors, friends, enemies, relationships. Maps track our place on the planet, record our collective history and create a visual narrative of cultural world changes. Steve Barbaria is an artist and designer who has been working in the Sacramento region for over 30 years. His paintings have been commissioned by large corporations and published in leading national publications such as the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. Steve's work is also part of the Library of Congress collection of American Posters and Prints. His most recent work titled, The Re:Mapping Project, was exhibited at the ArtHouse Gallery in 2013 in a one-person show. The Re:Mappping Project: stevebarbaria.wordpress.com.
Dave Webb captures and edits photos on his iPhone. "You Are Here" includes a mix of static images and glowing framed photos, shot in the Sacramento region. Previous exhibits include Saturate Yolo, Saturate Sacramento and participation in the Bark exhibit at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis. He is a 2014 Sacramento365.com Featured Artist.
