The Broadway Gala, California Musical Theatre's annual fund raising dinner, takes place on Saturday, May 2, starting at 6:00 p.m., at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J St. in Sacramento. The Black Tie Optional evening is filled with the glitz and glamour of Broadway, including dinner and hosted bar, musical entertainment and dancing, and a live auction. Memorial Auditorium will be elegantly decorated with a New York Broadway theme.
The event will benefit
California Musical Theatre, the nonprofit organization that presents top quality theatrical experiences through Music Circus and Broadway Sacramento, and provides valuable arts education programs for the Sacramento region through the CMT Academy.
The title sponsor of The Broadway Gala is Chevron. Presenting Sponsors are VSP and Rabobank.
The Broadway Gala Co-Chairs are Taryn McGrann and Jacqueline Calkin Bagatelos. Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Dennis Mangers.
The Broadway Gala begins with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by an elegant dinner at 7:00 p.m. Live entertainment features a program of musical theatre favorites performed by Broadway professionals who have also appeared at Music Circus over the years, as well as a special performance by a children's choir of alums from the educational programs offered through the
California Musical Theatre Academy.
The evening will include a live auction with David Sobon Auctions, with proceeds benefitting
California Musical Theatre. Auction items include a trip for two to New York City for the Tony Awards on June 7, a walk-on part onstage at Music Circus, and a painting of Music Circus by acclaimed Sacramento artist Tim Collom. Closing out the event will be a rousing dance set by the popular band Clean Slate.
