CHICAGO is coming to Folsom! The national tour is coming to the Harris Center for seven performances and it has everything that makes for a great Broadway musical: one show-stopping-song after another, some truly astonishing dancing, a universal tale of fame, fortune and "all that jazz." "Broadway's most electrifying show" (Entertainment Weekly) makes its Harris Center debut March 3.
Long identified with the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, CHICAGO has been honored with 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations from around the world. And now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history is coming to Folsom so you can see it as never before - up close in the intimate Harris Center.
CHICAGO (The Musical) plays on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 8 pm; Friday, March 4, 2016 at 2 pm & 8 pm; Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2 pm & 8 pm; and Sunday, March 6, 2016; 1 pm & 7 pm. Tickets are priced at $49-$79, Premium Seats $89. A special gala reception precedes the opening night performance. Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from the Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from noon to 6 pm Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show times. The Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.
Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who spitefully murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her wicked crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, and produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, CHICAGO is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.
Walter Bobbie is the director of the original New York Production and Ann Reinking the original choreographer in the style of Bob Fosse. CHICAGO features set design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Ken Billington and sound design by Scott Lehrer. The production also features orchestrations by Ralph Burns, supervising music direction by Rob Fisher.
CHICAGO is not to be missed. Time Magazine calls it "A Triumph," Newsweek raves "Smashing" and Entertainment Weekly sums it up by calling CHICAGO "Broadway's Most Electrifying Show."
Whether you're looking for your first Broadway musical, or whether you've seen the Academy Award-winning film and want to experience the show live on stage, or whether you've seen it before and want to recapture the magic as never before in the Harris Center's intimate theater, CHICAGO always delivers.
