CHICAGO is coming to Folsom! The beloved musical is coming to the Harris Center for seven performances this month! It has everything that makes for a great Broadway musical: one show stopping song after another, some truly astonishing dancing, a universal tale of fame, fortune and "all that jazz." CHICAGO takes to Stage One on Thursday, March 23.
Long identified with the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, CHICAGO has been honored with 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations from around the world. And now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history is coming to Folsom so you can see it as never before - up close in the intimate Harris Center.
CHICAGO (The Musical) plays on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 8 pm; Friday, March 24 at 2 pm & 8 pm; Saturday, March 25 at 2 pm & 8 pm; and Sunday, March 26 1 pm & 7 pm. Tickets are priced at $49-$79, Premium Seats $89, with a 10% discount offered for Friday matinee single tickets. Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from 12 noon to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Parking is included in the price of the ticket. Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.
Cast for the Harris Center performances include Maxwell Caulfield (Billy Flynn) who, in 2007 made his West End stage debut as Billy Flynn in the long-running London production of Chicago; he then resumed the role of Flynn for the Broadway production of Chicago in November 2007. Television audiences remember him as the ne'er-do-well son of Charlton Heston in The Colbys and far more recently he has surfaced on NCIS, Modern Family and Castle. The Colbys connection doesn't end there: Kim Morgan Greene (Roxie Hart), a protégé Director/Choreographer Bob Fosse, was well known as Channing Carter Colby, one of the stars of The Colbys, and is "thrilled to be reunited with Maxwell her TV Husband." Her Broadway credits as a featured lead include original Tony Award winning casts of Fosse.
Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who spitefully murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her wicked crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, and produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, CHICAGO was the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.
Walter Bobbie is the director of the original New York Production and Ann Reinking the original choreographer in the style of Bob Fosse.
CHICAGO is not to be missed. Time Magazine calls it "A Triumph," Newsweek raves "Smashing" and Entertainment Weekly sums it up by calling CHICAGO "Broadway's Most Electrifying Show."
Whether you're looking for your first Broadway musical, or whether you've seen the Academy Award-winning film and want to experience the show live on stage, or whether you've seen it before and want to recapture the magic as never before in the Harris Center's intimate theater, CHICAGO always delivers.
