Vice President Gore spends most of his time chairing The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit focused on solutions to the climate crisis. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976, 1978, 1980 and 1982 and the U.S. Senate in 1984 and 1990. He was inaugurated as the forty-fifth Vice President of the United States on January 20, 1993, and served eight years with President Clinton.
A leader in global politics, technology and business, Gore is a member of the Board of Directors of Apple; as Chairman of Generation Investment Management, an asset-management company, and as a senior partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Silicon Valley's preeminent venture capital firm.
Gore is the author of the bestsellers Earth in the Balance, An Inconvenient Truth, The Assault on Reason and Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis. His newest book,The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change, is a frank and clear-eyed assessment of six critical drivers of global change in the decades to come. He is the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary and is the co-recipient, with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for "informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change."
Following Vice President Gore, Sacramento Speakers Series will present Admiral Michael Mullen (1/7/14), physician and author Dr. Andrew Weil (1/21/14), crisis management expert Judy Smith (2/18/14) and host of the Food Network's Barefoot Contessa program, Ina Garten (4/1/14). Steve Wozniak launched the series on October 1, 2013.
