27th Annual Sacramento Elly Awards To Be Held At The Crest Theatre 9/20

The 27th year of Sacramento's Elly Award Ceremony will be held on Sunday September 20, 2009 from 6-9:30 pm at The Crest Theatre, 1013 K Street

The annual Elly Awards honor outstanding achievements of community theaters and artists in the Sacramento area. Elly Awards are named for the late Eleanor McClatchy, who was a devoted patron of the local arts. We are now taking submission for this year's Elly Awards. The box office and house will open at 5 pm, with the Youth awards beginning at 6 pm followed by the Adult awards beginnng at 8 pm.

Musical productions will be performed by the nominees in the Overall Production Musical category and will feature selections from Cats, Evita, Oklahoma, Ragtime and Wild Party. Accompanist Jim "Fingerz" Jordan will delight us with his creative arrangements and mood music.

There is still time to RSVP for the First Quarterly Member Theatres' Meeting on Sat, Sept 26 at 10am at the Studio Theatre. The theatre states that "Bring your topics for discussion and let's work together to support one another. We hope to inform members on a few of SARTA's existing policies including but not limited to the Elly Awards and their judging process, member resources, and upcoming projects."

FREE NIGHT OF THEATRE IS COMING TO SACRAMENTO - OCT 2 - NOV 1! Theatres need to sign up by Sept 1 to be eligible. You should be receiving emails from seeaplay.com to help facilitate your involvement. It's not too early to be getting ready for Fall General Auditions to be held on Saturday, November 7 from 12 -4:30pm. As soon as we confirm a theatre location we will let you know. General Auditions are free for SARTA members, but there will be a $5 processing fee for non-members to attend this great educational experience. Please be prepared to perform either two contrasting monologues or one monologue and one song- not to exceed three minutes total time. An accompanist will be provided- no acapella or prerecorded music allowed. Please bring 20 headshots and resumes, stapled back to back, to the auditions. Send us an email to reserve your time slot.
