The Marvelous Wonderettes has just returned to Off-Broadway after a gap of five years. A sunny jukebox musical whose score is composed of 1950's and '60's girl group classics, Yorktown Stage is happy to present this musical as our summer production, July 23-30, 2016. Among the iconic pop songs featured are 'Mr. Sandman', 'Lollipop', 'Son of a Preacher Man' and 'Hold me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me'. We first meet Cindy Lou, Betty Jane, Missy and Suzy aka The Wonderettes at their 1958 Prom Night, performing a selection of girl group classics in front of their fellow classmates. The musical traces the next decade of the girl's lives up to their reformation in 1968, when they once again take to the stage for their high school reunion.
Starring in the production will be Gina Gentile (NYC), Gina Noto (Granite Springs), Triona O'Callaghan (Yonkers) and Roma Scarano (Harrison).
The talented Yorktown Stage creative team returns: August Abatecola as director, Carrie Silvernail as choreographer, Barry Liebman as producer and Stephen Ferri as musical director. "We are so thankful to present this 'marvelous' production to our patrons," said Producer Liebman. "Happily, we obtained the rights to produce the show prior to the announcement of its Broadway return and we will be running simultaneously." Director Abatecola adds, "It is my distinct pleasure to direct a production with so many gifted and talented actors." "As in the past, we have cast the best of Westchester's actors to complement the prominent NYC professionals.
'Marvelous Wonderettes' runs July 23-30, with evening performances on the 23rd and 29th at 7:30 pm and matinee performances on the 24th and 30th at 1:00 pm.
