Based on two of the greatest works in children's literature, this fast-paced and witty show is set in Wonderland's courtroom, where Alice is on trial. The Queen of Hearts is the judge, the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, and Caterpillar are witnesses, and the jury is a deck of cards! Poor Alice must try to prove her innocence by re-living the events of the adventures we've all come to love. Her crime? Growing and changing. Both helping and hindering her are Tweedledee and Tweedledum, who spend most of their time trying to decide who is the attorney for the defense and who for the prosecution. To win the case and save her head, Alice must embrace the truth about who she is and be willing to wake up from the dream of Wonderland.
This fun-filled and fast paced musical comedy offers all of the characters you have come to know and love in a whole new way! With four (4) day time performances only, it's perfect for the entire family. After each performance, the audience will have the opportunity to meet their favorite characters and take pictures.
With new songs and a fresh take, our audiences will be transported to Wonderland. Amidst the trial you'll be looking for The Cheshire Cat, play a game of Croquet and of course, attend a tea party with the Mad Hatter. Just be sure you don't lose your head!
We are pleased to welcome back some Yorktown Stage favorites. Joey Sanzaro (Pleasantville) will lead the tea party as the Mad Hatter. He has previously played Lion in our fall hit "The Wizard of Oz" and played the title role in "Shrek." Christopher Oldi (White Plains) is reprising his royal flairs as the King of Hearts. He was last seen on our stage as the ever so confused King in Cinderella. Stacy Goodman will lend her rich soprano voice to the role of Mouse. She most recently left audiences in awe during her time as Glinda in "The Wizard of Oz." We are pleased to welcome Ashley Wool (Yonkers) as Alice.
Under the dynamic direction of the Yorktown Stage Artistic Director, August Abatecola, the cast of 22 includes a stellar lineup of professional and local actors familiar to Hudson Valley audiences. The Queens Playing Cards are all local children from Northern Westchester County.
