Marin Mazzie has been heard in many of the country's major symphony halls, cabaret, and concert venues, and has starred in some of the most memorable musicals on the Broadway stage and London's West End including Kiss Me Kate (Outer Critic Circles Award winner, Tony, Olivier Award and Drama Desk nominations); Ragtime (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations); Passion (Tony nomination); Bullets Over Broadway (Outer Critics Circle Award winner); Next to Normal; Monty Python's Spamalot; Man of LaMancha; and Into the Woods. Her concert career includes performances at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and she has been seen with the New York Philharmonic in two of their PBS Specials and their Live at Lincoln Center Special.
Master class coaching by guest artists has been part of Hoff-Barthelson's curriculum since the School's founding in 1944. This distinguished tradition continues this season with a roster of world-class musicians and educators including Pamela Devenport and Alan Harris, cello; Meng-Chieh Liu and Alessio Bax piano; Marin Mazzie, voice; Lucie Robert, violin; Alan Kay, clarinet; Tara Helen O'Connor, flute; and members of the New York Philharmonic.
Master classes are an enlightening experience for students and audiences alike. After months of careful preparation, students perform for and then receive feedback and guidance from a master teacher who often challenges the student to think in new and critical ways about the piece they've prepared. The results are often inspiring and enlightening and serve as a catalyst for students to reach new heights in their own musical explorations.
One of Westchester County's most cherished and active cultural resources, Hoff-Barthelson Music School has achieved national recognition as a premier community music school for its unsurpassed leadership in education, performance and outreach for more than half a century.
The Hoff-Barthelson Music School Master Class Series is made possible, in part, by ArtsWestchester with support from Westchester County Government, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
