SOOP Theatre Company proudly brings the Tony Award-winning musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, to audiences of all ages for a one-weekend only event, October 26-28. SOOP's STAR Mainstage Production features talented high school performers, in a high-energy, fun-filled production that will keep your toes tapping.
Based on the 1967 film of the same name, Thoroughly Modern Millieis the story of small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. Millie soon begins to take delight in the flapper lifestyle,butit doesn't take long, however, for Millie's "thoroughly modern" plan to go awry. Winner of the 2002 Tony Award for Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a bright, funny, and charming musical comedy -- a heartfelt valentine to New York City and the people who love her.

Paul Romanello(Director) has been the Artistic Director of SOOP Theatre Company since its inception in 1998. Paul has directed, coached and taught extensively throughout NYC and Westchester in such venues as Salesian High School (nominee, Outstanding Director, Metro HS Theatre Awards), the Hoff-Barthelson Music School, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Tres Artis, Metropolitan Playhouse and The Neighborhood Playhouse, where he had the privilege of working with playwright Bruce Jay Friedman on A New Bit(formerly 23 Pat O'Brien Movies). As an actor, his past credits include Amadeus (SOOP), 70/70 Horovitz (Theater for the New City), TheExcitingLife(Altered Stages), A Train (Re)Plays(Peter Jay Sharp Theatre), A Train Plays(NYMF/Neighborhood Playhouse), ItalianAmerican Cantos(Abingdon),Bel Canto(Metropolitan Playhouse), Italian American Reconciliation(Seven Angels, CT) and the Israel Horovitz world premiere, 2nd Violin,at the Boston Theatre Festival. He has appeared in several films including The Jerky Boys, Endangered, and the short, I Love You, I'm Sorry And I'll Never Do It Again. Paul lives in Westchester County with his wife and three children.
