Penguin Rep Theatre Presents Award-Winning Comedian Robert Wuhl One Night Only

Penguin Rep Theatre, the award-winning professional Equity theatre under the leadership of founding artistic director Joe Brancato and executive director Andrew M. Horn, presents Robert Wuhl, the award-winning actor, comedian and writer, in his latest work, Shistory Happens!, for one performance only, Saturday, September 23 at SUNY Rockland Community College's 500-seat Cultural Arts Theatre in Suffern, New York.

"We all know when stuff happens," says Mr. Brancato, "but it takes the keen eye of Mr. Wuhl in this pop culture comedy show to point out when shistory happens!"

"We're happy to welcome back Mr. Wuhl," says Mr. Horn, "with a hysterical -- and historical -- follow-up to his 2006 HBO Comedy Special Assume the Position With Mr. Wuhl, which he performed live for us in 2011."

Wuhl's first role in movies was a starring role in the 1980 comedy The Hollywood Knights along with other fledgling actors Tony Danza, Michelle Pfeiffer and Fran Drescher, followed by larger roles in such films as Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) with Robin Williams, Bull Durham (1988) with Kevin Costner, Tim Burton's 1989 Batman, and Cobb (1994) with Tommy Lee Jones.

He appeared in The Bodyguard as host of the Oscars. In reality he won two Emmy Awards for co-writing the Academy Awards with Billy Crystal in 1990 and 1991.

From 1996 to 2002 he wrote and starred in the HBO series Arli$$ as the title character, an agent for high-profile athletes.

Joe Brancato was a high school English and drama teacher in 1977 when he peered into an abandoned 1880's hay barn in Stony Point, New York, and visualized his future: a theatre of his own.

As it celebrates its fortieth season, Penguin Rep Theatre, dubbed "the gutsiest little theatre" by The New York Times, continues to present a cultural experience that is unique in the region: professional productions of new plays at affordable prices.
