A MESSAGE ABOUT THE ALEX H. URBAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FROM JOHN FANELLI:

The Alex H. Urban Memorial Scholarship is given to a student in memory of my mentor Alex H. Urban, founder of the Metropolitan Youth Theatre in California. For ten years, I worked throughout the state of California and in New Zealand under Mr. Urban's guidance.

Alex Urban was my mentor. He was charming and charismatic. He was intelligent, creative, and well educated. But most importantly to me, he was an amazing director. I was fortunate enough to work directly with him, an apprentice to a Master. Every time I am in front of a group of students, I am inspired by his memory. I emulate his methods. I hope he would be proud of what those methods have helped to create here at Lighthouse Youth Theatre.

LIGHTHOUSE BEACON AWARD

LYT depends upon the generosity of our volunteers. We are grateful to have so many who are willing to give of their time, talents, energy and resources. The Lighthouse Beacon Award was established to recognize an LYT volunteer whose outstanding generosity has made an enduring mark on LYT and the hearts of all those involved.

DIANE BRADSELL JR. BEACON AWARD

This award was named after Diane Bradsell because of all her dedication and endless hours of volunteering as a stage manager and associate producer for LYT. We created this award in 2013 as we wanted to recognize a student with these same qualities. The student who wins this award has volunteered infinite hours and has dedicated their time, talents and heart to LYT and their fellow students. A true role model to their peers for their valuable contributions to the LYT community.
