Irvington Town Hall Theater kicks off their 2015-2016 season on Friday, September 25th at 7:30pm with an innovative and special new event: The ITHT Tune-Up Chorus. The event offers music lovers the opportunity to gather together and sing their favorite songs with complete abandon, regardless of ability. Pop-up choruses are the newest rage for joyous and artistic expression popping up in cities across the country. Their rising popularity is based upon the entertainment value, camaraderie and sheer fun. The Irvington Town Hall Theater will come alive with singing when the community comes together, learns a few songs hitting the airways today (from artists such as Sam Smith, Ed Sheenan, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift) under the leadership of Doug Winters' wonderful conducting, and then performs the songs that same night.

"Think of it more as a party than a performance," says Jody Hansen, Irvington Town Hall Theater Commission Chairman. "We were so excited when Alison Cooper-Mullin brought us the idea after attending one in another state."

The ITHT Tune-Up Chorus is a benefit to 'tune-up' the theater where ticket sales will go towards an entrance/lobby beautification project. Patrons will be able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win personal 'tune-up' items, drink free beer donated by Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, and have a real party of an evening. We are excited to have former Irvington High School Choral Director Doug Winters as our conductor for the evening along with some great back-up music to enhance the experience. Tune-Up Chorus offers the fun of a flash mob with the setting of a backyard BBQ - and you don't even have to be a great singer to be involved; just wanna have fun!

"Alison Cooper-Mullin and commissioner Judy Frimer have been amazing in creating this event to kick off our season," says Theater Manager Greg Allen. "I think we will have a great benefit where people can be comfortable and casual."

All tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased in advance at www.irvingtontheater.com.
