DIVIDING ASHES
by New Dramatists' Resident Playwright Chiori Miyagawa
Directed by Erica Gould
A comic calamity
In this darkly witty and wildly imaginative play, Erica witnesses a homeless immigrant fall through a crack of ice in Central Park on the coldest day of the winter. Two weeks later, she falls into a manhole without a scratch, and it occurs to her that now-at age thirty-three-is the right time for her to decide where her own ashes should be scattered. People alive and imaginary visit her in her seclusion as she journeys through realizing the value of her life, everyone's life and everyone's death.
