The All Shorts Irvington Film Festival (As iFF) presents a love letter to short films just in time for Valentine's Day on Saturday, February 13th at 7:30 pm. However, festival director Laurie Chock wants to make it clear that these are not your typical romantic love films.
"When choosing the theme for our second festival, we wanted to celebrate our love of short films while not making it literal," Chock says. "This festival defines love in a broader sense which can include animate or inanimate, passion, dedication - not just romantic."
Ten shorts from around the world ranging from 2 minutes to 26 minutes will be screened on February 13th, and the audience will get to choose their favorite of the evening. Reserved seating can be purchased in advance online for $15; and $35 "Above the Line" tickets include an after party at an historic Irvington home within walking distance from the theater.
The Best of Film Series was created eight seasons ago as an off-shoot committee of the Irvington Town Hall Theater (ITHT) Commission. This past fall, As iFF was launched by the group, bringing in a full house of film lovers interested in indie films that honor storytelling through shorts. February's festival features films that have won major awards at other
festivals including BAFTA and Cannes, and several of those filmmakers will be on hand for a Q&A following the screening.
"I am so proud that we can offer a festival that promotes both local and international filmmakers," says ITHT Commission Chairperson Burnett Hansen. "The film committee has done a wonderful job at choosing films that create an interesting and diverse evening for our patrons."
