Magical the sheer breadth of the imagery is unlike anything youve seen before. Los Angeles TimesUsing animation, projections, and her own moving shadow, acclaimed multimedia performance artist Miwa Matreyek weaves fantastical narratives that leave audiences spellbound. Her cinematic visuals traverse natural vistas, cityscapes and domestic spaces to conjure dreamlike scenes and a childlike sense of wonderment. Glorious Visions in Animation features two visually extraordinary pieces: Matreyeks newest work, Infinitely Yours, which explores the web of intricate connections between humans and climate change, and This World Made Itself, a journey from Earths epic beginnings to todays fast-paced, human world. Matreyeks work lives whimsically at the tipping point between the animated and the theatrical, the imagined and the poignantly real.Presented in partnership with Providence College as part of FirstWorks Earth First programming.
