The Wilbury Theatre Group announces the New England premiere of A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney by one of America's fastest rising young playwrights, Lucas Hnath. Longtime Wilbury Group collaborator Brien Lang (We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay!) directs Vince Petronio (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity) in this fascinating examination into the last days of one of the greatest icons America has even known as his success was peaking, and his personal life floundering. A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay about the Death of Walt Disney runs November 6-21 at The Wilbury Theatre Group, 393 Broad Street, Providence RI.

Tonight Walt is going to read you a screenplay he wrote. It's about his last days on earth. It's about a city he's going to build that's going to change the world. And it's about his brother. It's about everyone who loves him so much, and it's about how sad they're going to be when he's gone.

The Wilbury Theatre Group invites audiences into the conference room with Walt and his family in the New England premiere of Lucas Hnath's adrenaline-charged odyssey with a truly immersive audience experience directed by Brien Lang, and featuring Vince Petronio in a supersonic portrait of the man who forever changed the American Dream.

"A Public Reading... asks audiences to take another look at the giant that is Walt Disney and see him as the man that he really was," says Wilbury Group Artistic Director Josh Short. "In keeping true to our mission to question what else beyond the kitchen sink dramas and epic musicals theater we all know can be, Lucas Hnath's script pushes the bounds further both in style and in content. And in the hands of Brien Lang and the design team we've assembled, not to mention Vince Petronio as the great Walt Disney himself, this production promises to be a truly immersive and exhilarating ride for our audiences."

Tickets are $25 general admission, and $20 students/seniors. Preview performances (Sept. 18-21) just $15. Call 401-400-7100 or order online at thewilburygroup.org
