The Wilbury Theatre Group announces the New England premieres of Young Jean Lee's Straight White Men and Amelia Bullmore's Di and Viv and Rose, running in rotating performances November 17-December 23.
Directed by Vince Petronio and featuring Daraja Hinds, Roger Lemelin, Gunnar Manchester, David Rabinow, and Wilbury Artistic Director Josh Short, Young Jean Lee's Straight White Men begins performances on November 17, offering a traditionally structured take on the classic American father-son drama. Three brothers and their father gather for Christmas to drink eggnog, play video games, and wrestle. But when one brother seems to buckle under the pressures of achievement, it becomes clear that these men are wrestling with something larger than each other. From one of the most daring writers in America comes a razor-sharp comedy that confronts the complexities of identity and hypocrisies of privilege.
Di and Viv and Rose makes its New England premiere on November 25 in a production directed by Kate Kataja and featuring Milly Massey, Melissa Penick, and Rae Mancini. Taking place over a span of 27 years, Di and Viv and Rose is the post-feminist hit from London's West End that follows a trio of friends through forging an awkward friendship at University, through careers, love, loss, and heartbreak.
Straight White Men and Di and Viv and Rose run in rotating performances November 17-December 23 at The Wilbury Theatre Group, 393 Broad Street, Providence RI. Tickets are $15-$25. Call 401-400-7100 or online at thewilburygroup.org.
