The Wilbury Theatre Group proudly announces the 5th annual Providence Fringe Festival, FRINGEPVD 2018 - to be held July 30 to August 4, 2018. The premiere Fringe Festival in New England, FRINGEPVD has grown rapidly since its inaugural year in 2014.

The 2018 Festival will bring together more than three hundred individual theatre, music, dance, multimedia, and performing artists for five nights of performances in traditional and non-traditional performance venues in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence.

Presented by The Wilbury Theatre Group in collaboration with WaterFire Providence, the Steel Yard, and community partners throughout Providence, the 2018 Fringe Festival will be held entirely in Olneyville venues centered around the WaterFire Arts Center and the eight designated performance spaces within it. Additional performances during the festival will be held at Riffraff Bookstore and Bar, The Steel Yard, Yellow Peril Gallery, and The Wilbury Theatre Group's new home next to the Woonasquatucket River.

The week begins with an Opening Night Party on Monday, July 30 at The Wilbury Theatre Group featuring complimentary hors d'oeuvres courtesy of FireWorks Catering, and preview performances by local and national artists from the fringe, including Zoink Zulag and the Galactic Shag, Christopher Johnson, Passive Aggressive Novelty Company, members of The Extraordinary Rendition Band, and more.

Regular performances will be held at Fringe venues Tuesday, July 31-Saturday, August 4. Additionally, the 2018 Festival includes the 4th annual completely FREE Family Fringe Day on Saturday, August 4 to be held outdoors at the WaterFire Arts Center featuring children's performances, games, and workshops.

Modeled after the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and in the great tradition of Fringe Festivals around the world, FRINGEPVD brings independent performers from around the world to Providence to share original work from artists on the "fringe."

"In 2014 the Providence Fringe Festival was founded with just a handful of local artists and community arts partners," says Festival Founder and Wilbury Artistic Director Josh Short. "In the five years since then, we have seen the festival grow bigger and stronger every year, involving more community organizations and more artists, both locally and from around the world, and increasing accessibility to reach more audiences. This year's festival promises to build on that even further through our continued collaboration with WaterFire and all of the amazing organizations throughout Olneyville. With a more centralized festival footprint, we hope it will encourage audiences and artists to see more shows and engage with each other on a deeper and more meaningful way."

"WaterFire Providence is excited to welcome back FRINGEPVD, the Providence Fringe Festival for a second year at the WaterFire Arts Center," adds WaterFire Founder and Executive Artistic Director Barnaby Evans. "WaterFire's mission is to inspire the entire city and FRINGEPVD does just that with cutting edge theatre, performance and experimental work. The Art Center's exciting interior and vast spaces will host eight performance stages this year! Come join us for the newest of the new!"
