"After three years witnessing this incredible Rhode Island tradition, returning to Trinity Rep for A Christmas Carol is especially thrilling," remarks recent Brown/Trinity Rep graduate, director Taibi Magar. "I fell in love with this tiny but mighty state and I always loved watching the audience gather for this heart-warming event."
Ms. Magar is a New York-based director and a recent graduate of the Brown/Trinity Rep program. While completing her MFA, she directed The Winter's Tale, Marisol and The Skin of Our Teeth. In New York, Taibi has directed for the Women's Project Theatre, Rising Phoenix Rep, Faux Real Theatre Company and INTAR Theatre. She has assisted regionally, off-Broadway and on Broadway's production of Exit the King. She is the recipient of a Stephen Sondheim Fellowship, an Oregon Shakespeare Festival Fellowship, a Public Theater Shakespeare Fellowship, the TFANA Actors and Director Project (with Cecily Berry and Andrew Wade) and is an alumni of Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
The design team includes Michael Rice (music direction), Daniel Knechtges (choreography), Patrick Lynch (set design), Olivera Gajic (costume design), Keith Parham (lighting design) and Peter Sasha Hurowitz (sound design).
This year's Carol features many Trinity Rep resident acting company favorites including Annie Scurria, Fred Sullivan, Jr., Stephen Thorne, and Joe Wilson, Jr.; guest actors Ava Gaudet and Tom Gleadow; and Brown/Trinity Rep MFA actors Devon Caraway, Shelley Fort, Elise Hudson, Ralph Johnson, Michael Mahoney and Andrew Polec.
Trinity Rep welcomes fourteen talented local children, ages 8-12, to the stage as the 2014 children's cast of A Christmas Carol. One hundred forty child actors auditioned and the rotating cast includes: Emma Broomfield of Cranston, RI; Thomas Fitzgerald of Warwick, RI; Peyton Luiz of East Providence; Bobby Miller III of Cranston, RI; Nick Milan of Seekonk, MA; Samia Nash of Providence, RI; Margaret Notchey of Attleboro, MA; Phineas Peters of Providence, RI; Eva Senerchia of Warwick, RI; Ronin Scott of Warwick, RI; Henry Siravo of North Providence, RI; Tara Sullivan of Cumberland, RI; Delaney Wilson of Berkley, MA; and Iain Yarbrough of Wrentham, MA.
This year's production boasts a new tradition as Trinity Rep proudly presents their second annual sensory-friendly performance on Saturday, November 8 at 2:00PM. Catering to both adults and children with sensitivities, this modified show fits the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other cognitive and physical disabilities.
