Trinity Repertory Company announces dates for the third annual sensory-friendly performance, as well as American Sign Language interpretation and Open Caption performances of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens and with original music by Richard Cumming. An Open Captioned performance will be offered on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00PM. The sensory-friendly adaptation of the show will be held Saturday, November 14 at 12:00PM, with American Sign Language interpretation available during the performance.

Catering to adults and children with sensitivities, the sensory-friendly performance meets the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other cognitive and physical disabilities. The goal with a sensory-friendly performance is to ensure people who might believe that they cannot experience theater are welcomed with open arms. Lights are left on, loud noises are softened and patrons are welcomed to move around and/or make noise if needed. In the lobby, a sensory play area is available. Patrons can arrive up to an hour before the performance for the Meet Your Seat program, where individuals are allowed to sit in their seats and move around the theater before the performance. Our staff is trained to assist everyone in attendance.

Tickets for these performances are on sale now by phone at (401) 351-4242, online and in person at the theater's box office. All seats are $25. The open caption performance of A Christmas Carol is included in the Open Caption Subscription, which is only available by phone or in person. For more information on this performance, or any of the accessibility services the theater offers, please contact Trinity Rep's box office or visit the website at www.trinityrep.com.

"Part of Trinity Rep's mission is to make theater accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or ability," says Curt Columbus, The Richard L. Bready Artistic Director. "A Christmas Carol tells the story of a man who has closed himself off to the world, and who finds that it opens back up to him when he learns the importance of empathy and understanding. This lesson remains timely, year after year, and its meaning is particularly important to us as we undertake this initiative. We are thrilled to make this special show a reality for more local families this holiday season. "

Trinity Rep's A Christmas Carol is presented by Cardi's Furniture along with supporting sponsor Amica Insurance. Trinity Rep's 52nd season is made possible by supporting sponsors Rhode Island Monthly and RISCA.
