Trinity Rep's Education Department will once again provide students the opportunity to spend the summer exploring a world of creativity and theater under the instruction of Rhode Island's most knowledgeable theater professionals. Enrollment is now open for both the Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI), which offers classes for grades 5-12 and for YASI Jr., a week-long program for grades 1-4. The YASI class for grades 8-9 is at capacity, but interested students can be placed on a wait list. Additionally, spaces are still available for the Young Actors Studio and Lifelong Learning spring sessions, which include classes for grades 4-12, as well as selections for adult actors and theater enthusiasts.
Trinity Rep's Young Actors Summer Institute provides students with a hands-on experience, exposing students to a wide range of topics taught by Trinity Rep Associate Artistic Director Tyler Dobrowsky; Resident Acting Company members Mauro Hantman and Rachael Warren; Education staff Caroline Azano and JorDan Butterfield;Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs students and alumni Becky Gibel and Charlie Thurston, as well as local artistShura Baryshnikov. This wide range of talent draws from years of experience as theater professionals on and offstage with a varied background in acting, directing, teaching and improv.
The Young Actors Summer Institute runs from July 2 to August 4, with an optional extension week, YASI Shakes,August 6 to 11, in which high school students rehearse and perform a Shakespeare production in one week. Studentswill have the opportunity to pick and choose from a wide array of electives, including: Shakespeare, improv, yoga, playwriting, directing, mask making, theatrical design, voice, audition techniques, movement, stage combat, and more. The Summer Institute culminates with a two final performances for parents and guests on the Trinity Rep stage.
The Young Actors Summer Institute meets Monday through Friday with half, full, or extended day enrollment options. Regular, full day enrollment meets from 9am-4:30PM with an enrollment fee of $1350. Returning students from last season's classes are offered a discounted rate of $1175. There are also two half-day options being offered, with morning sessions meeting from 9AM to 11:45am for $625, and afternoon sessions meeting from 12:15pm to 4:30pm for $725. Extended day enrollment meets from 7:30am–6pm throughout the run of the camp for an additional $275 fee. Students participating in YASI Shakes will pay an additional fee of $300. The YASI Jr. program for students grades 1-4 will run June 25- 29, with 1st and 2nd graders meeting from 9am-12pm and 3rd and 4th graders meeting from 1pm-4pm. Tuition for either session is $200. YASI Jr. provides studentsgrades 1-4 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of acting and creating a character through games, improvisation, music, yoga and more. At the end of the week, the class will perform a beloved children's book or fairy tale for an audience of family and friends.
The Young Actors Studio Spring Session runs March 7- May 2 (8 classes) for grades K-3, and February 28 – May 17 (10 classes) for grades 4-12. These classes touch on scene study, playwriting and improvisation, and are taught by Trinity Repertory Company's education staff and teaching artists. Each class culminates with a performance open to friends and family. The classes will work and rehearse in the Pell Chafee Performance Center (home to the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program), located at 87 Empire St., Providence. Acting the Song

This class will be taught by Trinity Rep company member Rachael Warren, accompanied by Vicki Dorazio.Musical theater offers many challenges and opportunities to the actor. Focusing on solos, this class will explore how to remain truthful while at the same time finding the size and passion needed to fill and justify a song. Music from any genre is welcome. Selections will be discussed & chosen with the instructor to suit each student's skill level and specific goals. Acting the Song runs Tuesdays March 13- May 1, 6pm-8pm, $250.

ADULT EDUCATION OFFERINGS
Trinity Rep offers introductory classes for adults and theater enthusiasts in the winter, as well as Beyond the Stage, Trinity Rep's coffee-hour discussion series.
New! The Speed of Write
This new class will be taught by playwright George Brant. Movement in the theatre isn't limited to swordfights – a play's dialogue can carry motion, as well. In this playwriting class, students will learn how to instill movement into their writing, through working on their own scripts and reading and discussing the work of their classmates. Students will leave the class with a new full-length play (in twenty pages or less!) and the tools to make your writing move. Writing time outside class is required. The Speed of Write runs Mondays, February 6- March 5, and meets 7pm- 9pm ($200 fee, $175 for returning students).
Advanced Acting
Take your craft to the next level in this advanced scene study class taught by Trinity Rep company member FrEd Sullivan Jr. Create a performance through basic minimal improvisation, monologue work and scene study, while delving further into script analysis and character development. Rehearsal time outside class is required. Tuition includes admission for two to a production at Trinity Rep. Advanced Acting runs Saturdays February 11- March 31, and meets 10am-12:30pm ($300 fee). Intro to Improv
Improvisational Theater is performed as it is created. While humor is not the goal of Improv, it can be hilariously funny. This class, taught by company member Mauro Hantman, will focus on the basics of improvisation, including accepting and building, establishing point of view, and creating worlds to play in. Intro to Improv runs Mondays February 28 - April 18, and meets 7pm-9pm ($275 fee).

Shakespeare
This is a scene study class dedicated to exploring the works of William Shakespeare. Taught by company memberFrEd Sullivan Jr., students will learn how to develop skills to inhabit and activate Shakespeare's gorgeous language and vital characters and to bring to life the raucous humor, deep tragedy, and profound humanity inherent in the writing. Rehearsal time outside class is required. Tuition includes admission for two to a production at Trinity Rep. Beyond the Stage Spring Session: The Playwright's Journey
In discussions led by teaching artist Linda Sutherland and Trinity Rep's artistic team, participants will examine the process of new play development. Students will visit with the playwrights behind Trinity Rep's groundbreaking Three by Three in Rep - which presents three world premiere plays performed in rotating repertory - to learn how playwrights turn an idea into a production. Participants will analyze and discuss Curt Columbus' Sparrow Grass, Deborah Salem Smith's Love Alone, and George Brant's The Mourners' Bench, along with other works from these American Playwrights. As a final project, participants will read and review new play submissions that might eventually hit the main stage at Trinity Rep! Beyond the Stage runs Saturdays March 3- April 21, and meets 10am- 12pm ($150 fee, $125 for returning students).
