Trinity Repertory Company announces its 2017 Project Discovery Gala Flights of Fancy, which celebrates and supports education programs at Trinity Rep. Flights of Fancy is co-chaired by Alison & Larry Eichler and Suzanne & Ira Magaziner. The event committee includes Richard Beretta, Martha Douglas-Osmundson, Rebecca Gibel & Charlie Thurston, Laura Harris, Sally Herreid, Heidi Keller Moon, Kibbe & Tom Reilly, and Barbara & Larry Schoenfeld.

The program begins at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 15, at the Textron Airplane Hangar, 566 Airport Road, Warwick, RI. Tickets are now available at www.TrinityRep.com/event/flights-of-fancy-the-2017-project-discovery-gala/ or by phone at (401) 453-9237.

Party in an Airplane Hangar

The Textron Aiplane Hangar is a private facility operated by Textron, the Rhode Island-based aviation company. Tours of a Textron aircraft will be offered during the gala. Light dinner will be provided B. Russell Morin Fine Catering. A live auction and Shakespeare Cabaret begins at 7:00 pm with auctioneer Joe Wilson, Jr. (the star of this season's A Christmas Carol), and performances by beloved Trinity Rep company actors. Guests can bid on items including Broadway theater tickets, great sports packages, an exclusive high-end whiskey tasting, and a one-of-a-kind Trinity Rep house party. The evening wraps up with dessert and mingling.

Education at Trinity Rep

Funds raised at the Flights of Fancy gala will support education programs at Trinity Rep, whose dedication to education through art is one of its guiding principles as the State Theater of Rhode Island. At the center of the gala's focus is Project Discovery, which has given access to live professional theater to more than 1.4 million students and offers study guides, in-school workshops, and residencies for students, as well as professional development and preview nights for teachers.

Education at Trinity also includes Creative Classrooms, an arts integration program that builds community and develops 21st century skills in the classroom; the Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI), which offers electives such as playwriting, musical theater, and Shakespeare to youth in the summer; Studio Classes taught year-round by Trinity Rep's artistic and education staff and company members; Trinity Zoo, the company's teen improv troupe; Teen Ambassadors, who meet 2-3 times a month and see mainstage productions free of charge, as well as attending master classes with staff; the Write Here! Write Now! playwriting competition; and the Trinity Rep Active Imagination Network (TRAIN), which uses drama as therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Trinity Rep reaches nearly 20,000 K-12 students each year through its education programming. More info is at www.trinityrep.com/engagement.
