Theatre By The Sea owner and producer Bill Hanney, Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner and Managing Producer Joel Kipper are proud to announce the opening of the musical creature-feature Little Shop of Horrors on July 14.
One of the most popular musicals of all time, Little Shop of Horrors combines early rock and roll, doo-wop and Motown to tell the story of a hapless florist shop worker who discovers an unusual plant... with an even more unusual appetite! Funny and touching and just a little bit spooky. Join Seymour, a deranged dentist, the alluring Audrey, and the audacious Audrey II for this zany production that's absolutely out of this world! Songs include "Suddenly Seymour," "Somewhere That's Green," and "Feed Me."
Producing Artistic Director
Amiee Turner, who directed last season's highly acclaimed productions of Crazy For You and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Motif Awards for Best Director and Best Summer Stock Production) returns to the director's chair. She will be joined by music director
Tim Robertson, who music directed the 2007 sneak preview production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and choreographer Ann Cooley, a former line captain and choreographer for the Radio City Rockettes, who choreographed last season's production of Peter Pan. New York performer
Guy Olivieri makes his Theatre By The Sea debut in the role of Seymour and recent NYU graduate, Katerina Papacostas, will play the role of Audrey.
Joel Briel, a veteran of the Broadway cast of CATS, will portray Mushnik and Trinity Rep Conservatory graduate Timothy
John Smith, appears as Orin. Rhode Island native
Angela Williams, who played The Narrator in Theatre By The Sea's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2000) returns to Rhode Island in the role of Ronette.
