Rhode Island Stage Ensemble, one of the Ocean State's premier community theater companies, is thrilled to announce a bold new production of Shaw's epic historical saga SAINT JOAN, directed by Christian O'Neill (MA, MFA, MSW).
Saint Joan follows a headstrong country girl whose fiery religious visions propel her into elite circles. When the nation's rulers become threatened by her popularity and influence, they unite to bring her down - landing her on trial for her life. Shaw's play powerfully dramatizes the complex relationship between society's visionaries and the powerful forces they threaten.
The play also reveals itself to be as timely and relevant as ever in our contemporary moment of social upheaval and revolt. Under the direction of RISE co-founder Christian O'Neill, the story takes on a radical new life in this fast-paced, modern dress, multimedia production.
