Does your child like to sing, dance and use their imagination? If so, Camp OSTC is the perfect place for them to utilize their musical theatre talent and have fun at the same time! There are still a few spots left for the two-week musical theatre camp, which is being conducted by the professional theatre staff at Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), the not-for-profit producing entity at the historic Theatre By The Sea. But don't delay, the registration deadline is July 8, 2011.

Not only will campers have fun, but they'll also have the opportunity to work with top quality theatre professionals while they learn performance techniques including acting, voice and dance, as well as technical skills including the design and creation of costumes, sets, and props for a full scale musical production, which will be performed by the campers on the Theatre By The Sea stage. A selection of master classes chosen from a wide variety of topics including Character Development, Stage Combat, Musical Theatre Dance, Audition Technique, The Art of Directing, Mime, and others, taught by guest artists and OSTC staff, will also be included during the two-week session.

"We are so excited to be able to offer this unique camp experience this summer," said Producing Artistic Director, Amiee Turner. "We are happy to announce that one of this year's campers will be chosen to receive a scholarship provided by The Keri Anne O'Donnell Memorial Fund. In addition, we are happy to be able to subsidize a select number of campers thanks to the generosity of several anonymous donors."

The Keri Anne O'Donnell Memorial Fund was established to honor the memory of Keri Anne O'Donnell, who loved everything about performing - singing, dancing and acting. In theatrical terms, she was a triple threat. Keri was just 15 years old when she was killed in a tragic car accident. The O'Donnell family feels it is their mission to keep Keri's dreams alive by assisting other youngsters like her - performers who have a passion for a performing art.

Camp OSTC will be directed by Jean-Pierre Ferragamo, a familiar face to Theatre By The Sea audiences. His first appearance was as Pseudolos in the 2007 Sneak Preview production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Since then, Jean-Pierre has appeared in Evita, The Producers, and last summer's highly acclaimed production of The Full Monty. Having relocated from New York to Rhode Island several years ago, Jean-Pierre has been busy producing shows for numerous private schools, as well as offering private coaching, music and voice lessons to children throughout the state.

Camp OSTC will be in residence at Sam's Studio (Theatre By The Sea's rehearsal space) in Wakefield, RI from July 18-29, 2011 and is limited to 30 students entering grades 4-8. Spots will be filled on a first come/first served basis. Applications are available online by visiting www.theatrebythesea.com. For scholarship information call (401) 782-3800 x18.
