In 1912, the wealthy Birling family is visited by Inspector Goole, who questions them about the suicide of a young, working- class woman. Under interrogation, each member of the family is found complicit in the young woman’s exploitation and abandonment, effectively causing her demise. An Inspector Calls won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
