Tony Award-winning Trinity Repertory Company, under the leadership of Richard L. Bready Artistic Director Curt Columbus kicks off their 2015-2016 season, Rebels, Renegades and Pioneers with William Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR, directed by Associate Artistic Director Tyler Dobrowsky. Julius Caesar runs now through October 11, 2015 in Trinity Rep's Dowling Theater. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
From 44 BC to 2015 AD, the same story has played out thousands of times: an ambitious politician is brought down by a league of jealous conspirators. Driven and confident, Caesar (played in this production by resident company member Anne Scurria) has just returned from war a hero, only to find a group of close advisors want her dead. In a prescient exploration of the underbelly of political maneuvering, JULIUS CAESAR is an explosion of jealousy, retribution, power and control.
Joining Scurria are Trinity Rep resident company members Mauro Hantman, Brian McEleney, Barbara Meek, Fred Sullivan, Jr., Stephen Thorne, Rachael Warren, and Joe Wilson, Jr. with Richard Donelly and Tara Sullivan and Brown/Trinity Rep actors Joshua Lomeli, Olivia Khoshatefeh, Timothy Kopacz, George Olesky and Griffin Sharps. The production also features live music performed by members of Providence's Community Music Works. Members of this ensemble were recently seen in Trinity Rep's 2015 production of Melancholy Play: a chamber musical.
The creative team includes John Ambrosone (lighting design), Olivera Gajic (costume design), Craig Handel (fight choreography), Peter Hurowitz (sound design) and Michael McGarty (set design), with stage manager Megan Tracy Leddy.
Tickets are available at www.trinityrep.com, by calling (401) 351-4242 or at the theater's box office at 201 Washington St., Providence.
