Passive Aggressive Novelty Company will present the premiere of a.vanishing.point at AS220's Black Box, on April 8th and 9th. Conceived and performed by Providence-based artist, Andy Russ, this multi-disciplinary work weaves together movement, sound, text, and image into an intimate, immersive audience experience that blurs the boundaries between dance, theatre, and performance art. a.vanishing.point is a meditation and a provocation, a "physical poem" composed of elements at once familiar and foreign. A chair, a book, a body, an ocean, a gesture, a song - these elements are repeated, rearranged and turned inside out, ignoring narrative logic in favor of "meaning" that is gained or lost within the resonance between sensory combinations.
Russ: "My work is made to be consumed like a multi course meal. Thinking about the food is of course part of the experience; but tasting is central."
This is the second piece by Russ to be premiered in RI, following last summer's performance of little engines of proof at the Providence Fringe Festival.
