PETER PAN Flies Into Theatre By The Sea 7/15

Theatre By The Sea owner and producer Bill Hanney, Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner and Managing Producer Joel Kipper are proud to announce the opening of the magical musical, Peter Pan on July 15.

Based on the novel by J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan follows Peter and Tinkerbell, Wendy, Michael and John to the small island of Neverland, where they share their adventures with the Lost Boys, Indians, Pirates, and the dreaded Captain Hook! Memorable songs include "Never, Never Land," "I Won't Grow Up," and "I'm Flying." Not just for children, this thrilling, sweet tale is for everyone willing to believe in their imagination and a little bit of magic!

Ocean State Theatre Company is pleased to welcome Gary John La Rosa, who directed Smokey Joe's Café, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, and Always...Patsy Cline at Theatre By The Sea prior to its closing in 2003. He will be joined by music director, Aaron McAllister, who music directed last season's productions of George M! and Evita and choreographer, Ann-Cooley-Presley, who was a former line captain and choreographer for the Radio City Rockettes. New York performer Cary Michele Miller, will be making her Theatre By The Sea debut in the role of Peter Pan, with IRNE nominated actor Peter S. Adams of Salem, Ma. portraying the dual roles of Mr. Darling and Captain Hook. Rebecca Barko of Hamden, Ct. will play the role of Mrs. Darling, with Nicholas Mercurio of Rumford and Dylan Temel of Westerly, portraying John and Michael Darling respectively. Other local performers include Lauren Avarista of Narragansett, Corinne Cannon and Caroline Jackson of Marlborough, Ct., Cassie Collinson of West Kingston, Dominique Rose DeSimone of Warwick, Albert Jennings of Pawtucket, and Sarah Pothier of Rumford. Former Providence Journal reporter Ron Sarro returns to the Ocean State in the role of Mr. Smee.

Audiences are invited to enhance their theatre experience by dining in the casual, contemporary and creative atmosphere of Bistro by the Sea, just a short stroll down the arbor walk adjacent to the theatre. Following performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, theatergoers can enjoy fun, food and drinks at the popular Late Night Cabaret with Sabrina Blaze. Peter Pan will be presented from July 15-August 8, with preview performances on July 15 and 16 and opening night scheduled for July 17. Performances are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at 8 pm, Thursdays at 2 pm, Saturdays at 4:30 & 8:30 pm, and Sunday evenings at 5 pm, with special performance times on Sunday, July 19 at 3 & 8 pm. The theatre is located at 364 Cards Pond Road, Matunuck, RI. Tickets for preview performances, Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, July 16 are $35 and $39-$49 for all other performances. Discount rates are available for groups of 20 or more by calling (401) 782-3800 x18. $15 Student rush tickets will be available on a limited basis one hour prior to curtain on the day of the performance with a valid student ID.
