Looking for something to do with your kids during the winter and spring? Why not introduce them to the magic of live theatre at the new state-of-the-art Ocean State Theatre in Warwick! Ocean State Theatre Company's Family Fun Fest features a variety of performances, being held on select Saturday mornings from November through May.
The Family Fun Fest Schedule features the following performances:
November 15 - The Jester of Notre Dame
Physical comedy, amazing stunts, and great music all add up to guaranteed fun! Take an inspiring journey to medieval times with Alex the Jester, who has performed on Showtime, "America's Got Talent," Off-Broadway in NY, and at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. Enter the world of the Wise Fool and revel in the opportunity to watch a court jester perform.
December 13 - Keith Michael Johnson presents Bubbleology
Back By Popular Demand! As seen on The Discovery Channel. "How do bubbles do that?" That is what the show is all about. The science behind the magic unfolds like a mystery, making this show both educational and unforgettable. You've never seen bubbles like this before...you can learn a lot from a bubble!
February 7 - Professor Paddy-Whack's Extravaganza of Songs & Silly Stuff
Rick Adam, as Professor Paddy-Whack, is a one man cast of wacky characters sure to delight and amuse. He presents a continuous collage of energizing entertainment, including hand shadows, musical saw, juggling, magic, hat tricks, story songs and sing-a-longs, laugh riot comedy skits, marvelous object manipulation, and the most intricate and entertaining one-man band you ever saw!
March 7 - OSTC4Kids presents Freckleface Strawberry The Musical
In this fun and touching family musical, based on the beloved New York Times Best Selling book by actress Julianne Moore, Freckleface Strawberry must learn to love her freckles and herself. With the help of her loveable schoolmates Freckleface learns that everyone is different - and that's what makes everyone special!
April 4 - Bruce Kalver presents Magical Moments: A Magic Show for All Ages!
Words like "unbelievable," "amazing," and "impossible" have been used to describe Bruce's magic. He entertains and amuses audiences with his sleight of hand and manipulative skills and performs miracles with everyday objects like balls, cards, coins, and ropes as well as presenting wonders with magical props from around the world. With his years of experience and easy going manner, Bruce charms his audience with comedy, colorful, visual magic tricks, and lots of audience participation.
May 2 - Squirrel Stole My Underpants
Sylvie is sent to hang up the laundry. The moment her back is turned, a mischievous squirrel steals her favorite piece of clothing. When Sylvie gives chase, an entire world emerges from her laundry basket and curious characters show her the way through mysterious lands. Will our lonely heroine rescue her underpants and discover the magic within herself? Join us on this adventure to find out!
May 23 - OSTC4Kids presents The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon
The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride as two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories, ranging from classics like Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel to more obscure stories, into one gigantic fable. This is a wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.
Before and after performances, families can enjoy drinks and snacks, which will be available for purchase at the theatre's lobby concession stand.
Family Fun Fest performances will be held at 11:00 am at Ocean State Theatre located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI. Single tickets are $10.00 each with packages of three shows or more for $8.00 per ticket. Discount rates are also available for groups of 20 or more by calling (401) 921-1777 x112. Tickets are on sale at the box office Monday through Friday from 12 noon - 6:00 pm, Saturdays from 12 noon - 4:00 pm, and from 12 noon until curtain time on performance days.
