Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), the not-for-profit professional theatre company, currently celebrating its fifth season in its comfortable, stadium-style theatre in Warwick, is proud to announce the return of Misgivings to Ocean State Theatre on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

"Misgivings proved to be quite popular with our audience, when we presented the show last year and we've had several inquiries asking if and when the show would be returning," said Amiee Turner, Producing Artistic Director of Ocean State Theatre Company. "We were very happy that Dave was able to fit us into his busy schedule, so we could meet the demand."

Join Father Patrick Aloysius Misgivings for this divine presentation of stories and one liners about growing up Catholic. From miracles and marriage counseling to bazaars and birth control, nothing escapes the good father's razor sharp Irish wit. This hilarious, interactive comedy includes a collection, a raffle and even an actual Bingo game!

Misgivings is the brainchild of Dave Kane, a performer, comedian, published author, and radio talk show host beloved by New Englanders for over 40 years. Nicknamed "The Pitbull of Comedy" in the 1980s during his time as a stand-up comedian, Dave is known for his passionate stances on social issues, urging people to stand up for what they believe in and to take action in the face of injustice. His fundraising and charity efforts include Misgivings, Just for Funds (a concept in which the venue and entertainment are provided for fundraising organizations), and Christmas is for Kids, which provides gifts to an average of 800 - 1,000 children in need each Christmas.

At age 18, Dave's son, Nicholas O'Neill, was the youngest victim of The Station nightclub fire of 2003 in which 100 people lost their lives. In the wake of this tragedy, Dave became a strong proponent of fire safety awareness and the enforcement of strict laws for the administration of fire safety inspections on public buildings.

In 2006, Dave authored his first published book, 41 Signs of Hope. In the book, Dave shares anecdotes of synchronistic, and at times, seemingly supernatural occurrences revolving around the number 41, which Dave and his family believe to be communications from the spirit of his son Nicholas. Dave also has a live presentation based upon the book which is available for booking for organizations. He also appears prominently in the movie 41, a documentary about Nick's life and legacy.

The proceeds from Misgivings will benefit Ocean State Theatre Company's Annual Fund for Artistic Excellence, which ensures that programming and casting choices are made based on the highest artistic standards, rather than being influenced by economic factors. Although OSTC prides itself in hiring approximately 60% of its performers and creative team from the greater Rhode Island area, the Fund for Artistic Excellence allows OSTC to combine the local talent with talent from across the country, which benefits the production quality, the local economy, and the local talent!

Misgivings will be presented at Ocean State Theatre on Saturday, June 3 at 7:30 pm. The theatre is located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI. All tickets are $25. Tickets are on sale at the box office Monday through Friday from 12 noon - 6:00 pm, Saturdays from 12 noon - 4:00 pm, and from 12 noon until curtain on performance days. Tickets are also available online 24 hours a day at www.OceanStateTheatre.org and via telephone during normal box office hours by calling (401) 921-6800. Additional donations to OSTC's Annual Fund for Artistic Excellence are always welcome.
