Epic Theatre Company is beginning the new year with an ageless masterpiece-Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." This story of a Southern family coming apart at the seams as they celebrate the birthday of their patriarch is one of the greatest family dramas of all time, and Epic's production will serve as the anchor to its fifth season when it arrives onstage in January 2017.

"January is the time to do BIG plays," said Epic Theatre Company Artistic Director Kevin Broccoli, "And this has been on my list for awhile. I just love how well all of Williams holds up-Streetcar, Glass Menagerie, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof all still feel relevant and risky. When you put a classic play in your season, you need to believe that there's something about it that offers an opportunity for discovery even after so many other wonderful productions, and I believe that Cat still has a lot of surprises left in it."

Directing the piece will be Epic Resident Director and Artistic Director of Out Loud Theater, Kira Hawkridge. "Kira is what sends my excitement for this production into the stratosphere," says Broccoli, "When I was putting together the season, I wanted to take Epic's collaboration with Kira to the next level, and give her these theatrical giants to tackle. Equus is one of them-and the first is Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."

Hawkridge will direct a cast led by Kerry Giorgi as Maggie, David Sackal as Brick, Eric Behr as Big Daddy, Michelle L. Walker as Big Mama, Justin Paige, Jason Quinn, Justin Pimentel, and Stephanie Traversa. All performances will take place at Theater 82 in Cranston, where Epic is the resident theater company.

"We usually tell people to Buckle Up when they come to our theater," says Broccoli, "But I think this time we should tell them to hold on for their lives. They're about to go for a once-in-a-lifetime ride."
